This project is created in 2021 at a Designing for Usability Studio class at Parsons School of Design. For the project, we were asked to create a MVP mobile product for a user problem we identified in our own personal life.
Jessica, James and I are all advanced home cooks who often experiment with international cuisines. But through a combination of preliminary research and personal experience, we discovered that many home chefs struggled to find authentic ingredients for more international, ethnic cuisines.
Outcome
Stats at a glance
Sage, is a mobile app that helps home cooks and private chefs efficiently source specialty ingredients in their neighborhood. It also serves as a wiki-database for these unique ingredients, where you can find their pronunciations, usage tip and more.

Reflections & Learnings
If we have more time…
Learnings
We only had about 6 weeks to conduct research and design this MVP product. If we have more time, we would build out the rest of the frames and complete the rest of the user flow. We would also consider the business model (potentially, partnership with stores or offering a neighborhood based co-op subscription) that would support the operation of this app.
As a team, we learned to conduct thorough user research and effectively identify key user pain points.
Personally, I learned to navigate disagreement within a team and realign with my teammates towards a common goal.
